Work is now underway to transform a former furniture warehouse in Lenton into 34 new affordable apartments.
Demolition of what was the World Wood Furniture store has taken place at Sherwin Road by contractors GEDA Construction to create two new three-storey apartment blocks.
One of the blocks will consist of 19 one-bedroom and 4 two-bedroom apartments and another will contain 11 one-bedroom apartments.
The new homes will be managed by local housing provider Jigsaw Homes Midlands and will be available for affordable rent and Rent to Buy, with allocations through Nottingham City Council.
The development will sit over the current pay and display car park on Sherwin Road and will have 15 car parking spaces, bicycle storage areas, a bin store and landscaping.
With excellent transport links to the centre of Nottingham and the dedicated cycle area, it is hoped that the scheme will encourage more sustainable travel.
The £4.8m development which is part funded by Homes England is expected to take around 14 months to complete.

This is just one site in Nottinghamshire being transformed into new affordable housing with Jigsaw Homes. The Group is working in partnership with Persimmon at Burton Road in Burton Joyce to deliver 24 homes for affordable rent and shared ownership and also at Teal Close in Netherfield where the last of 14 homes will be handed over in November this year.
Working with Keepmoat at Phase 2 of Chase Farm in Arnold, Jigsaw will be delivering a further 41 homes, including 28 for shared ownership, which will be handed over between now and completion in 2027. Also in Arnold, talks are still continuing with a developer to complete the 131-home scheme at Rolleston Drive.
