A treat meal for Gedling residents

Residents living in four Gedling Homes Independent Living schemes in Carlton received a meal as a treat during the lockdown. Following an online family festival called ‘Homefest’, which made over £1,400. 200 names of isolating older adults were collected by Gedling Homes and from local groups.

Delivery was then arranged by Suzy Roselade at Age Concern – Carlton and District. The delicious meals were made by Albies cafe and Piginns cafe on Carlton Hill and delivered by volunteer drivers from the community. The meal of cottage pie followed by Victoria sponge were boxed and delivered with instructions on how to prepare.

Staff from the Independent Living team were on hand to take the meals (safely) to the 81 individual flats at Orchard Court, Walton Court, Foxhill Court and Moreland Court and the residents were delighted….. and said ‘Lovely, absolutely lovely a beautiful dinner’ ‘Thank you very much, very kind, when is the next one coming?’
