We are always looking for ways to support our residents and particularly older people who may feel more isolated during lockdown, either through our own activities, or those run by other groups.
If you are aged 55 and over and like to be creative, then Create to Connect could be for you.
It’s a series of FREE online arts workshops run by City Arts, a Nottingham based charity that helps communities to create and explore all kinds of art.
Anyone aged 55+ can join, but City Arts would especially like to support people who are shielding at home or missing contact with others.
Through creativity, the project will promote positive mental health and wellbeing. Sessions will teach you new skills, support you to access nature and help you keep physically and mentally active.
These sessions will be interactive workshops based on Carol Ann Duffy’s story, ‘The Lost Happy Endings’ with themes from the story used to explore creative ideas through drawing, doodling, illustration and writing.
There are four workshops in this series, beginning on 19th March via Zoom. You do not need any previous experience of making art and if you need assistance with getting onto Zoom, City Arts will be able to help.
