Supporting our residents over Christmas

In December, a social group within one of Jigsaw Homes Midland’s independent living schemes was awarded a grant of £1,275 from Jigsaw Foundation to provide 85 Christmas Hampers.

Scheme Coordinator Kiri Lowe and volunteers delivered all the hampers to our residents at Nabarro Court and Lee Road in Calverton and Roe Hill in Woodborough.

The volunteers ensured that nothing went to waste, with extra bags also being donated to the local food bank and crackers given to the local care home in Calverton.

In the North West, the Moss Side Allotments community group run by volunteers, boxed over 100 food parcels for local people in need. Jigsaw Group collected and delivered 26 parcels out into the community for residents who needed extra support over Christmas.

Funding of £500 was provided from our neighbourhood budget. These boxes will continue to be available to Moss side and Whalley Range residents throughout early January.

Hibiscus Court in Moss Side held a carol signing event at their scheme on Friday 18th December also funded by the neighbourhood engagement team.

Kenyon House independent living scheme in Dukinfield received £415 from Jigsaw Foundation to provide a Christmas Afternoon Tea for all the residents. Shaw Street Group, based within William Ford House independent living scheme in Mottram was awarded £384 for a New Year’s Eve meal to be delivered to all the residents by a local catering company.
